Mercedes Mone is tired of the disrespect.
Mercedes Mone shocked the wrestling world this weekend with a major announcement on AEW television, confirming that she will be stepping away from the company for an indefinite period. The former Sasha Banks later addressed her fans directly on social media, posting a message that immediately stirred the AEW community.
Mercedes Mone has had a turbulent stretch inside the promotion in recent months. After capturing the TBS Championship, she dropped the title to Willow Nightingale at last year’s Dynamite: New Year’s Smash, marking the start of a downward spiral in her AEW run. This week’s Dynamite only intensified the situation during Nightingale’s in-ring celebration.

Mercedes Mone suffered humiliation in her last appearance
During the segment, Willow Nightingale invited Mone to the ring alongside Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander. Instead of joining the celebration, Mercedes began tearing down the setup, prompting all three women to embarrass her in front of the live crowd.
The confrontation ended with Mercedes Mone being planted with a powerbomb from Nightingale, a moment that symbolized how dramatically her fortunes had shifted within the division.
Days later, on AEW Collision, a video package aired in which “Ultimo Mone” declared she would be stepping away from AEW for a period of time.
She insisted that the women’s division would feel her absence, warning The Babes of Wrath and Statlander that she planned to take far more than championship belts when she returned.
Shortly after the segment aired, Mone took to X/Twitter and left fans with a brief yet provocative message:
“Goodbye,” she posted, marking her final public comment before her hiatus.
Is Mone leaving AEW?
Following her announcement, a portion of the fanbase reignited long-running speculation that Mone may be plotting a WWE return. However, during a recent Fightful Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp clarified that Mercedes Mone is expected to remain with AEW and likely has one more year left on her current deal.
Sapp added that Mone enjoys the scheduling flexibility and creative freedom AEW provides, two major factors that have kept her committed since her 2024 debut. While absent from weekly programming, the multi-title holder known as “9 Belts” could still defend her remaining championships across the independent scene.
For now, the timeline for her AEW return remains uncertain, but her impact on the women’s division and the rivals she has vowed to confront ensures that her next appearance will be must-see television.
