More details emerge on AEW star PAC’s health & potential factors that led to his demise

PAC’s untimely demise shook the world.

The entire wrestling community is still mourning the sudden demise of Benjamin Satterley, who was famously called PAC by AEW fans and known as Neville in WWE.

Satterley passed away aged 40 years on September 27, 2026, after just less than 24 hours of performing at the pay-per-view event organized by AEW called All Out. The cause of death of the British wrestler was revealed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as bronchial asthma.

However, there were some more factors in relation to his sudden demise, which have been explained by Toronto-based critical care physician Dr. Alex Patel.

PAC’s cause of death

The whole wrestling fraternity continues to mourn the loss of Benjamin Satterley, who was popularly known as PAC in the AEW and as Neville in WWE.

Satterley died at the age of 40 on September 27, 2026, after spending less than 24 hours in the ring in the pay-per-view event put together by AEW titled All Out. The cause of death of the British wrestler according to Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office was due to bronchial asthma.

Satterley’s family issued an emotional statement while paying their respects in the September 30 edition of AEW Dynamite. The family also received well wishes from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for the loss of their son, who died suddenly. The Rock issued a special tribute to Satterley, where he paid homage to his fellow wrestlers in AEW and WWE despite being in different promotions.

However, there were some more factors in relation to his sudden demise, which have been explained by Toronto-based critical care physician Dr. Alex Patel.

According to Dave Meltzer’s report, PAC had previously experienced lung-related problems and blood clots, with the latter reportedly dating back to 2023.

These health concerns may also have influenced how he managed international travel, as he reportedly spent extended periods in the United States before returning to the United Kingdom rather than making frequent transatlantic flights.

Dr. Alex Patel, a Toronto-based critical care physician in discussion with Metzler, explained that fatal asthma attacks are uncommon. He noted that people experiencing such emergencies often have a history of asthma-related hospitalizations, although there was no indication that PAC had such a history.

However, he stressed that there was insufficient medical information to determine whether those factors played any role in PAC’s death.

“If you do have underlying blood clots, they can affect the right side of your heart. There is some link between severe asthma attacks, and death, occurring more in people who have underlying heart issues so certainly if the right side of his heart was affected, it could lead them at higher risk for asthmatic complications.

Difficult to know, though without a heart or echo report on what his underlying heart function was, and if it was affected by the pulmonary embolism.”

The physician characterized the circumstances as an exceptionally rare occurrence and noted that the rapid progression of a severe asthma attack can leave very little time for medical intervention. Although immediate access to medical personnel might offer an opportunity for treatment, it is impossible to know whether a different setting would have changed the outcome.

The latest information provides context about PAC’s reported health history but does not alter the official cause of death, which was bronchial asthma. His passing remains a devastating loss for his family, friends, and colleagues, as well as fans who followed his journey from WWE to AEW.
