Jadumani made a winning start on his Asian Games debut
Indian boxer Jadumani Singh defeated Nepal’s Chandra Bahadur Thapa by a 5-0 unanimous decision in the men’s 55kg round of 32 at the Asian Games 2026 on Tuesday, September 22.
Jadumani, silver medallist at the 2026 Commonwealth 2026 recently, made his Asian Games debut at the Nishio Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya, and controlled the bout against Thapa from the start.

The Indian pugilist was more accurate with his punches than his Nepalese counterpart, winning the first two rounds 4-1 each.
As Thapa grew fatigued, Jadumani continued to rain punches and even forced a standing count against the Nepalese pugilist with a strong left hook.
Jadumani eventually sealed a 5-0 unanimous decision victory, confirming his place in the round of 16, where he will face the Philippines’ Carlo Paalam.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, India’s Sakshi Chaudhary produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by beating the Philippines’ Aira Villegas in the women’s 51kg round of 32. Villegas, a bronze medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, struggled to counter Sakshi’s reach and height.
The 26-year-old Indian pugilist secured a 5-0 unanimous decision victory to progress to the pre-quarterfinals, where she will face Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova.
