Chikitha Taniparthi creates history at World Archery Youth Championships 2025

India have bagged a total of six medals so far at the World Archery Youth Championships 2025.
Indian archer Chikitha Taniparthi has created history, becoming the first Indian female compound archer to win the individual junior title at the World Archery Youth Championships 2025 on Saturday, August 23, in Canada.
She registered a victory over Korea’s Park Yerin to clinch the gold medal in women’s under-21 compound final with a score of 142-136. Korean archers Park Yerin and Park Riye won the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Prithika Pradeep of India also clinched a medal in the individual event at the ongoing World Archery Youth Championships. She won the silver medal in the compound under-18 women category.
USA’s Savannah O’Donoghue bagged the gold medal, while the bronze medal was awarded to Dutch archer Fenna Stallen.
India have bagged six medals so far in their World Archery Youth Championships 2025 campaign, with three gold, two silver, and a bronze to sit third in the medal tally. Of those, two have come in individual events while four are from team events.
The Indian men’s under-18 compound team and under-21 compound team won the gold medal, having defeated the United States of America and Germany, respectively, in the gold medal match.
Meanwhile, the compound under-18 mixed team settled for a silver medal after losing to the USA in the final. The recurve under-18 women team, on the other hand, defeated the USA to clinch the bronze medal.
India had hope for another medal as Yogesh Joshi reached the semi-finals in U18 Men’s Compound Individual. However, he lost to New Zealand’s Hector McNeilly. The Indian archer then competed in the bronze medal match, where he lost to Chinese Taipei’s Yen Tzu Hsiang.
The World Archery Youth Championships 2025 commenced on August 17 and will conclude on August 24. All events are being played at the Grant Park Soccer Fields in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. So far, USA lead the chart with a total of 10 medals ahead of South Korea who have claimed eight medals.
