India also won gold medals in both men’s and women’s individual recurve events.
The Indian men’s recurve team produced a historic gold medal performance at the 2025 Asian Archery Championships on Thursday in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They ended an 18-year-long wait for the country by securing the gold medal at the prestigious event.
Indian trio of Yashdeep Bhoge, Atanu Das, and Rahul Pawariya made a major turnaround by making a comeback from a 2-4 deficit to secure a dramatic 5-4 win against Korea’s Seo Mingi, Kim Yechan, and Jang Jiho.
The shoot-off saw both teams scoring 29 points, but Das’s perfect 10 landed closer to the center than Korea’s, which resulted in India emerging as the winner.
This marked India’s first men’s team gold since the 2007 Asian Championship, when Rahul Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia, and Jayanta Talukdar prevailed over their Malaysian opponents.
Interestingly, Banerjee coached the men’s recurve team in Dhaka and expressed his happiness with the trio’s achievement. He now hopes to achieve glory in the 2026 Asian Games.
“It’s really fulfilling as a coach as we defeated Korea and didn’t choke. Atanu and I were discussing last night that we have not won a gold for a long time and it’s finally fulfilled. The next target is Asian Games definitely,” Banerjee told PTI.
Notably, Uzbekistan’s Amirkhon Sadikov, Mukhammankodir Ergashev, and Bekzod Boborajabov clinched the bronze medal in the men’s recurve team event.

The women’s individual event witnessed an all-Indian clash, as Deepshikha emerged victorious over Prithika with a scoreline of 147-145.
