Former Arsenal striker and cult hero Nicklas Bendtner has been doing the usual, which is being caught up in controversies. Now the most recent one is, regarding the 30-year old Dane has been charged with violence, after an alleged altercation which led to a Copenhagen taxi driver having a broken jaw.

The Rosenborg forward was arrested for the incident after the driver reported it to the cops. The former Wolfsburg striker has issued an apology stating, "I was involved in an extremely unfortunate episode at around 2 am on Sunday. I could not imagine it would develop as it did, and of course I’m extremely sad that the outcome became as unfortunate as it did."

Earlier, his lawyer had stated that Bendtner was denying all the charges. Meanwhile, the taxi driver has also been charged for throwing an unknown object towards the striker and his girlfriend, although it didn't hit them.

Bendtner further added, "To Rosenborg fans and audiences, I regret that this has happened. I’m sorry with all my heart that we are standing here today. To my dear teammates, I regret that this will steal focus in an important time. I thank you for your understanding. I have never been a fighter but I protect those I love on and off the pitch."

The former Gunners player now plays in Norway for Rosenborg, for whom he has scored 24 goals in 47 appearances. He had earlier played for Arsenal, rising through the ranks, and making 108 appearances under Arsene Wenger, scoring 24 goals. He has also represented Juventus in a loan stint.
