The Norweign famously scored the winner in the UEFA Champions League Final of 1999.

Manchester United have announced the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their interim-manager till the end of this season.

The Red Devils earlier revealed his name through their website which was later considered as a mistake and was quickly deleted. However, it was confirmed today that the club has finally decided to appoint Solskjaer as their interim manager. The former player has scored 128 goals in 11 seasons at Old Trafford.

The former Norway international will succeed Jose Mourinho, who was recently sacked. Solskjaer will also bring ex-United coach Mike Phelan to be his assistant alongside Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick joining him in the dugout.

The former United forward manages Norwegian side Molde, but their current season has ended and the new season will resume again in March.

Solskjaer said: “Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role. I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club.”

The former Norway international will be at the helm in their next game against Cardiff City, where he will hope to inspire the team to get back to winning ways.

Solskjaer's last appointment in the Premier League was for Cardiff City. Although his experience was not so pleasant as the Bluebirds got relegated in his eight-month spell as a manager. He currently is in his second spell as Molde manager signing a new contract earlier this month.

United will look to bring in a permanent manager to steer their ship at the end of the season. With rumours suggesting Mauricio Pochettino be the top target for the Red Devils next season.

Whereas in the middle of all this sacking and appointing conundrum, a new controversy has come to live as Manchester United star player Paul Pogba is set to be fined for his social media post right after Mourinho's sacking. A picture of the French world cup winner appeared on social media where he was clearly smirking and the incident took place right after Jose Mourinho was dismissed as Manchester United manager.

However, it was later deleted but did catch the attention of a lot of public including former United player Gary Neville. The former defender came up with a furious caption saying: "You do one as well!".

When the post was stirring a lot of controversies the sponsors Adidas explained, "Pogba's social media posts were a scheduled event, part of a marketing campaign. [It was] immediately taken down once it became apparent that it could be misconstrued as disrespectful to Manchester United and Jose Mourinho."

But the club seems to take no consideration for the reason and reports suggest that Pogba will be fined for that particular post.
