It was my mistake for the first goal- James Milner
The midfielder's mistake led to the first goal of the night.
Liverpool stumbled to a 2-1 defeat against fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Their manager, Jurgen Klopp, fielded a second team in their knockout fixture and had James Milner wearing the armband.
The midfielder insists that he let Liverpool down in the saga of their exit from FA Cup and before losing their unbeaten Premier League record.
The League toppers have seen two straight defeats in a row, first against Manchester City and now Wolverhampton Wanderers which Xherdan Shaqiri termed the setback 'unjust'.
“Back-to-back defeats isn’t really good enough for us but you have blips in a season,” said the 33-year-old. It’s not something you want, especially at Liverpool, we know what’s expected. We have to make sure we bounce back and look at where we can get better.”
Fans and pundits alike are suggesting that this hiccup for Liverpool will harm their title race now. The Reds are four points clear on the top as they prep up for visit to Brighton on Saturday.
“It’s not about blips, they are expected but it’s how you respond and bounce back. You’ve seen the character in the squad over the last few years, and the players we have, to know we will bounce back,” he added.

“It’s easier saying that but we have to do that at the weekend,” he said. In the game, Milner lost possession which allowed Raul Jimenez to score the opener of the night.
He said: “I should do better. The pitch all night was a bit tricky and lively. It’s the same for both teams. It was my mistake for the first goal and it’s cost us, if not it’s 1-1 and we get a replay.

Klopp substituted Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah into the game but they failed to perform.
