FIFA inches closer to a 48-team World Cup

A final decision will be taken on 6th June 2019.
FIFA is inching towards a 48-team World Cup, which looks more possible after the recent council meeting of the governing body. The members of the body have given their backing to Gianni Infantino in his bid to expand the upcoming World Cup in 2022, which will be held in Qatar.
A final decision will be taken on 6th June 2019, after FIFA and Qatar together submit the names of probable co-host countries.
