The Aussie joins the northeast outfit for their last two league games and the upcoming Super Cup.

Newcomers and table toppers NEROCA FC have secured the services of Australian attacking midfielder Nick Ward. The former Queens Park Rangers and Brighton & Hove Albion player will make his debut against Mohun Bagan on 18th February as confirmed by the club.

NEROCA FC released Kyrgyzstan International Akhlidin Israilov with mutual consent and hence Ward will take the spot left vacant by Israilov in the AFC quota.

The 32-year-old midfielder has the prior experience of playing in Australia, England and Greece and will now be plying his trade in India. The Perth-born veteran has been a well-renowned figure in Australia and has played for teams like Perth Glory, Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers. Ward has also won the A-League with Melbourne Victory in the 2008/09 season. He has also featured for the Australian national U-20 and U-23 sides.

NEROCA have been very impressive this season but they have wasted a lot of chances and Ward's calibre will help them in attack as well as in midfield. The Northeast outfit have two matches remaining which are very important fixtures in the context to the league, so they will be giving their everything to win the title. The Manipuri outfit have been facing trouble creating chances in the I-League lately, a problem which they hope to overcome in the last two matches of the league this season.

Ward will be joining up with compatriot Aryn Williams, who has been a standout performer for NEROCA this season and now with Ward's arrival the Orange Brigade will hope to end their season on a good note and even push for the title.
