Sony Norde rejoins Mohun Bagan for upcoming I-League season

The Haitian is an iconic figure for the Mariners' fans and his return will be welcome news.
Haiti international and 2014-15 I-League winner Sony Norde has rejoined Mohun Bagan for the 2018-19 season. Club director Tutu Bose in an official club statement said, "With immense pleasure, I wish to announce that Mohun Bagan has completed the signing with Mr. Sony Norde for 2018-19 football season. He is in Miami and will apply for his employment visa by today for which the necessary formalities are being addressed."
The 29-year-old left midway through last season after the Kolkata derby, which his side won 2-0 against eternal rivals East Bengal. During the fixture, there were around 20,000 supporters who wore Norde-esque masks and many were also seen with his trademark hairstyle. The reason for his departure was a torn meniscus injury in his right knee. On leaving, he bid an emotional farewell to his fans, and promised that he would be back soon.
Terminating his contract, the buccaneering striker went to Argentina to undergo surgery, which was successful. Post-surgery and rehabilitation process, the former Boca Juniors B player went on to train, to regain his best form, as seen in his social media videos.
