Aizawl FC extends contract with Stanley Rozario
The new deal will keep the 58-year-old at the Mizoram based side till 2021.
Aizawl FC have handed their head coach Stanley Rozario a contract extension after the good run of results under the tactician. The new contract keeps Rozario at The People's Club till 2021. The announcement was made through the official social channels of the club.
The announcement read, "The People's Club Head Coach - Stanley Rozario Henry has accepted the club's offer and decided to extend his stay at Aizawl FC till 2021!"
The former assistant coach of the Indian national team had joined the ex I-League champions after Gift Raikhan stepped down from the position of the head coach earlier this year. Rozario was instrumental in keeping his side in the I-League, finishing at a respectable seventh position after the initial turmoil that led to the resignation of Raikhan.
Stanley Rozario not only fixed the goal-scoring issues of his side but also helped them win four games out of the final seven, getting crucial points against the heavyweights Churchill Brothers and East Bengal.
The good work by the 58-year-old AFC pro licensed coach came as no surprise to the Aizawl FC fans as they have seen him do wonders with other I-League clubs. Rozario has a great history of managing north-eastern clubs and players. Rozario helped his then-side Shillong Lajong reach the historic finals of the Federation Cup in the year 2009.

He led the Mariners to the Federation Cup finals in 2010 and won the Calcutta Football League with them. The 58-year-old coach from Karnataka was the deputy to the former Indian national coach Bob Houghton from 2006 to 2008.
Known for developing talents and getting the best out of the available resources, the contract extensions explains how impressed the Aizawl FC management would have been with the side's rise from the relegation zone to a mid-table position.
