The 25-year-old also revealed that he is looking forward to learning more from Igor Stimac.

After an impressive domestic season behind him, it was just a matter of time until Jobby Justin to be called up for the national team. However, after being frozen out of the India squad last time around, newly appointed head coach Igor Stimac decided to check the former East Bengal striker out for himself, which landed the 25-year-old at the ongoing national camp to prepare for the upcoming King's Cup in Thailand.

“I am feeling very happy and proud and as an Indian, it’s an opportunity to do something good for the nation. So, I am feeling so happy and proud. Till now, day by day, I am feeling stronger and to do good for the coming days,” said an estatic Jobby to the media on Tuesday.

After not being picked for the national team's squad for the AFC Asian Cup earlier this year, Jobby was finally given a chance by new head coach Igor Stimac earlier this month. On being asked how Igor Stimac, the new Indian National Football team boss is different from his other previous coaches, he answered on a swift note, “All the coaches, they have their tactics and their own way of coaching. I am very much and satisfied with his training.”

“Every coach have their tactical approach, Alejandro has his own way of playing similarly Stimac has his own. If we can play to his plan then it will be good for the team," he added.

The ATK striker, like many others in the camp, expressed his passion to play for the Blue Tigers along with a wish to play alongside Sunil Chhetri.

“I was more eager to meet him. It’s the first time I am meeting Sunil bhai. So, everyone used to say that Sunil bhai used to be the best professional player. He is used to take his diet properly. So, in these few days I am watching and learning from him. He makes everybody very comfortable in the team," he quipped.

A tremendous last season, playing for Kolkata giants East Bengal where he scored nine goals and provided four assists, made his road to the national team camp swift for Jobby. Looking back at the 2018-19 season the 25-year-old said, “Last season was my best season. I got so many chances for the first XI. I could score goals and as a team we were superb. Personally, last season was the best.”

IM Vijayan, the legendary former captain of the Indian National Team have had a great influence on Jobby. He has been the guiding factor and the mentor of the striker.

“He is so happy with what I am achieving day by day. He used to say that keep working and go ahead," he quipped.

“Personally, I am feeling stronger day by day and have learned much from the experienced coach. The days I will be with him, I have to learn from him,” Jobby signed off.
