The Men of Steel could not come back from a dying minutes winner against the Stallions.
FC Pune City went all out against Jamshedpur FC to win their first game of the season at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex. Diego Carlos marked his return from suspension with a wonderful strike early in the match. Even though Sumeet Passi pulled one back for the visitors, a thumping header from Matt Mills in the second half ensured the Stallions all three points for the first time this term.

After the game, the head coaches of both the teams met with the media to present their opinions. Pune City interim coach Pradyum Reddy looked obviously pretty happy with the result as Jamshedpur were unbeaten this season prior to the game and are one of the toughest teams in the league. “It took a collective effort from each and every person on the team to win this game. It was hard work out there and we have shown that with that hard work we have got a good result.”
When asked about his opinion on Ashique Kuruniyan’s performance the 42-year-old heaped praise on the youngster. “It is really great to see how Ashique has been progressing since the last season to this season. We have seen many consistent performances from him and we know what talent he has. I think he was fantastic out there.”
Reddy went on to speak about how the team finally came together for the first time this season after some players were out injured, while some were out with suspensions. He looked happy seeing the good chemistry between the players, especially that between Marcelinho and Diego Carlos, who constantly posed a threat to the opposition defence.
