Exclusive: Jamshedpur FC sign Mumbai City's Joyner Lourenco

The 27-year-old's arrival comes after the club recently bought NorthEast United's Keegan Pereira.

With rumours regarding Jamshedpur FC swooping in for Mumbai City's Joyner Lourenco doing the rounds for quite sometime, it looks like the Men of Steel have finally wrapped up the deal.

According to Khel Now sources, Jamshedpur FC have signed the defender, who has previously represented the likes of Sporting Goa and Bengaluru. The fee paid is believed to be around Rs. 78 Lakhs.

The club had posted a teaser on their social media handles which showed a picture of a football player in the form of a silhouette, with some fans guessing it to be Lallianzuala Chhangte or Ferran Corominas.

Lourenco has also represented India U-23 in the past, for the 2014 Asian Games.

Mumbai City are on the back of a terrific season, while Jamshedpur missed out on the playoff spots. Jamshedpur were fifth in the ISL standings, with six wins, nine draws, and three losses. Also, the side conceded 21 goals and scored 29.

Meanwhile, the Islanders finished third, and lost to an exciting FC Goa side in the semi-finals. 

Lourenco's signing comes at a time when ATK have reportedly triggered Michael Soosairaj's Rs. 90 Lakh release clause, which is a serious dent to Jamshedpur's playoff hopes next season. Although Lourenco's arrival is good. The Goan will add steel to the side.
