Gary Neville hops in to slam United board, says manager not at fault

The former Red Devils great has insisted that the club's downfall has to do more with the administration than the manager.

Manchester United have recorded their worst ever start to a season in nearly three decades and with West Ham's loss last weekend, things have a taken a new turn in this abysmal phase surrounding the club. The controversy of a rift between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho has been around United since long, with many singling out Jose for every negative at the club. But Gary Neville has come up to support the manager.

United are at the middle of the table - nine points behind the league-leading cross-city rivals Manchester City.

Neville, on the other hand, faced a bit of challenge on his statement over the club's legacy. Fans on Twitter came onto him regarding the same.

Scrutiny of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward's strategy since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013 has been echoed by United supporters.

In a public expression of discontent, a banner declaring Woodward a 'specialist in failure' was flown over Turf Moor during United's 2-0 win over Burnley in early September.
