Lalromawia scored for Chhinga Veng whereas Lalfakzuala scored for Mizoram Police.

Chhinga Veng FC began their title defence with a narrow 1-0 victory against MPL debutants Chawnpui FC. A special strike late on from Lalromawia proved to be the difference in the first fixture of season 7.

Both teams had crossed paths earlier in the season in the LG Independence Cup, with Chhinga Veng FC edging their opponents thanks to a solitary goal from MS Dawngliana.

The defending champions had an impressive start to their Mizoram Premier League season

There were similar patterns from their first encounter at AR Lammual as Chhinga Veng FC failed to find the net through Lalrammawia and Lalromawia in the first half. Chawnpui FC kept their shape in the back which meant the champions had a hard time grafting out chances.

Chawnpui FC's David Laltlansanga proved to be a nuisance at the other end and had to be marshalled very well by CVFC's backline.

Lalromawia ultimately made the difference on the 83rd minute when he latched on to a ball from midfield and set himself up for a beauty of a goal, ensuring his side earn all three points in their first game.

A second half goal from Lalfakzuala was enough for Mizoram Police FC to earn three points and a winning start to their MPL campaign as they beat Bethlehem Vengthlang FC 1-0.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC could not capitalise on their bright start to the match as they fashioned themselves numerous chances early on. Lalzatluanga was guilty of missing two glorious opportunities as BVT FC looked more like taking the lead in the opening stages.

Mizoram Police fought back as the game went on but Bethlehem Vengthlang FC stood firm in the first period as they enjoyed a better first half than their opponents.

The Police side stepped up in the second half, immediately finding the net when Lalfakzuala lifted the ball into Eddie Zorammawia's net after being put through.

The forward came close to adding a second in the second period as Mizoram Police gained the upper hand in the second period.

Lalzatluanga had one opportunity for BVT in the second half but it was clear that the Police team had the momentum with them. F. Lalrinpuia forced a brilliant stop from Eddie while Lalsangbera rattled the bar late on in a bid to find their second goal.
