The full-back has joined the Toffees from Barcelona in search of regular first-team football.

Everton's latest signing Lucas Digne has revealed that he declined a possible move to Liverpool twice in his career, but that his tattoo which says "I Will Never Walk Alone" has nothing to do with the Reds.

Digne left Barcelona in search of regular game-time and signed a 5-year deal with the Merseyside club for £18m. As soon as the defender arrived in England his tattoo caught the attention of Liverpool fans, leading to stories about his dislike for the Reds.

However, the ex-Blaugrana defender dusted of those stories in a recent interview with Liverpool Echo. The 25-year-old revealed that he turned down two offers from Liverpool during his stint with Lille and a loan spell at Roma.

"It's not about football. When I was 3 or 4 years old on my first day of school my parents gave me a necklace with these words and after I got them tattooed.

But, maybe it's because the Liverpool fans are angry that I said two times 'no' to Liverpool. I'm blue," said the full-back.

Digne also expressed his desire to reunite with his ex-Barcelona teammate Yerry Mina at Goodison Park. The Colombian international is very keen to leave the Spanish giants and the Toffees have courted his services for weeks now.

"I hope to see him here, but I don't know [what will happen]. He'll choose the best for his career and we'll see," added Digne.

Digne's prime reason for leaving Barcelona was to seek regular game-time. The 25-year-old became part of the Catalans ahead of the 2016-17 season, but only managed to play 29 games for them. His lack of games also cost him his place in France's national squad as he failed to display quality performances in the last two years. It won't be easy for the full-back to get regular starts at Everton too as he will be facing stiff competition from Leighton Baines.

"I know him and everybody I think knows him. We speak together. He's a very good person, he said to me 'welcome' and he's so friendly. I think the competition is very good for the team.

If in every position you have very good players it's hard for the coach. I want to play every game. I'm young and I need to progress." said Digne about Baines.
