It comes as a shocker as the United gaffer was never a fan of this Juve player.

It's been over a month since the English summer transfer window shut down, but Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are still in the headlines, with a flurry of reports suggesting the Portuguese wants a swap deal involving Paulo Dybala and Paul Pogba.

The latest report in this regard comes from CalcioMercato, who suggest Mourinho is eyeing a move for Juventus' Argentine international Dybala.

According to the Italian news outlet, United are looking to make a bid of around £100m as early as January. They are also willing to offload Pogba if need be.

The Argentine is a modern #10 for Juventus, a position for which Mourinho already has a bulk of players to choose from. Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are the players who can excel in that role. Although, Dybala is undoubtedly an upgrade on the players already at Old Trafford.

Even if Juve choose to sell him, United are going to face stiff competition to secure his signature. Real Madrid are desperate for a marquee signing and Barcelona as well as Bayern Munich are tracking him, with French champions PSG also lurking in the wings.

The one factor that may work in United's favour is the unrest caused by Pogba. The Red Devvils have, time and again, insisted that the midfielder is not for sale, following reports he may be open to leave. However, the club may decide to let him go if he continues to remain unhappy.

Pogba spent the four years between his two spells at United with Juve, where he was a teammate of Dybala's. Although, Barcelona were most frequently linked with a move for the France international over the summer, the Turin club were also said to be keen on re-signing him.

Juve's reported interest in Pogba, it is claimed, could be used by United as a bargaining chip to get Dybala, with some form of swap deal also said to be a possibility.
