Sergio Aguero: A modern day Premier League and Manchester City legend
The Argentina international is his club's all-time top goalscorer with 201 goals.
"Aguerooooo....."
"I swear you’ll never see anything like this ever again. So, watch it, drink it in... two goals in added-time from Manchester City to snatch the title away from Manchester United."
Martin Tyler's screaming frenzied reaction on 13th May 2012 has been deeply inscribed in the mind of every City fan. For them, its more like flickering flashbacks of despair turned to joy within a matter of minutes – and who achieved it for them? Their very own Argentine #10, Sergio Leonel "Kun" Aguero.

The former Atletico Madrid man will forever go down into the annals of Premier League history for his unforgettable 2012 title-winning goal against Queens Park Rangers deep into injury-time. But, little do we realize that it's not just that fateful day, it is also his contributions to the Etihad-based club and the Premier League which should be acknowledged more than what they already.
Aguero scored his first two goals of the season in the Community Shield victory over Chelsea, on 5th August 2018 – but what was more significant is that he crossed the 200-goal mark for The Citizens in the process. This is his eighth season with the Manchester club and he has already scored at least 20 Premier League goals in six of those campaigns, which include the last four.
Last season in the Premier League, the Argentine international scored 21 goals for Manchester City. Although, he missed 13 games, he still made it to the PFA Team for the Year for the first time in his career. Only Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah were ahead of him in the goal charts. The striker had a better goals-per-minutes ratio than the England international. Aguero scored a goal every 94 minutes, while Kane scored one every 103 minutes. In total, the Buenos Aires native scored 30 goals in all competitions (2017-18) from 39 appearances and also recorded seven assists.

These statistics prove that he should be regarded as one of the best goalscorers in Premier League history. However, he has one only one Golden Boot award till date, which was in the 2014-15 season. That was also the only time in 15 years when the League's top scorer didn't make it to the PFA Team of the Year. He might be ignored elsewhere, but in the blue half of Manchester, he isn't. In the 2017-18 season, he became the club's all-time top goalscorer and has now become the first to hit a double ton.
He has always been his side's go-to man in tough situations
Since he signed for The Sky Blues, there has always been competition for his place. Players like Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez, Stevan Jovetic, Mario Balotelli and Alvaro Negredo have come and gone, but Kun Aguero has always been the first-choice striker.
The biggest threat to him has only come recently in the form of Brazil's Gabriel Jesus, who arrived in January 2017. The former Palmeiras player scored seven times in 11 appearances and was the first one to really rival Aguero for a start. Even new manager Pep Guardiola seemed to be less happy with him when compared to Roberto Mancini or Manuel Pellegrini. According to the former Barcelona tactician, Aguero needed to work harder to develop his abilities as a football player.

But, if one looks back now, the 30-year-old could have been much better. In the Spaniard's first trophyless season, Aguero scored his best-ever 33 goals in a campaign. Last season, he could have done better, but injury hampered his progress. The La Masia product's arrival has helped Aguero in improving his movement and tactical awareness to win the ball back, which is basic for Guardiola's team. Even after working on other aspects, the Argentine still can't stop scoring.
Pellegrini stated that Aguero could challenge Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to become the best player in the world. Guardiola has said that he can do more. But, one thing is for sure that he's a modern-day Premier League and Manchester City legend. He will forever be remembered for his 2012 title-winning goal against QPR. He has always done what he does best, which is to score goals.
