Twitter reacts to Raheem Sterling being allegedly racially abused during Chelsea game
A lot of people took to the social media platform to express their anger and disappointment at the incident.
In a latest, a controversy sparked up during the big game at Stamford Bridge which saw defending champions Manchester City fall to their first defeat in the Premier League against Chelsea. A video footage during the game went viral on social media which showed City winger Raheem Sterling being ranted at when he walked over the goal line to pick up the ball. Apparently, it is seen that a few men hurled racial abuse towards the 24-year-old Englishman.
For that matter, the police are investigating over the video as to find proof against the abuse and Chelsea football club too have promised to take the strongest possible action where necessary. Moreover, Sterling also posted on Twitter how newspapers ‘fuel racism’ in football by comparing the news of two City youngsters Phil Foden and Tosin Adarabioyo buying new houses for their mothers. The issues naturally created a lot of fuss over the social media and here’s how people reacted to it-
So it seems Raheem Sterling heard what we all saw with our own eyes. Where are all the “It looked like “Manc” to me/Do we actually know what he said was racist?” apologists now? The people whose first thought is to defend these arseholes are part of the problem too.

The incident at The Bridge yesterday of vile abuse (racial or not) towards Raheem Sterling has no place in football (or anywhere else) and should never be tolerated. That said, the media en masse appears to have made up its mind that it WAS racist. At this point, that's wrong.

Raheem Sterling rightfully calls out the media who influence & stir the minds of the masses. Rags like The Sun & Daily Mail perpetuate content of xenophobic, racist, classist, Islamophobic etc nature. They get away with it because they are essentially part of the establishment

The abuse Raheem Sterling received at Chelsea is unacceptable. Racist or otherwise. Clubs and authorities should come down hard on anyone who behaves the way those men did last night. It's got nothing to do with passion either. It's just being a twat.

That video of the Chelsea fans screaming racist abuse at Raheem Sterling is fucking disgraceful. Sometimes you wouldn’t even know it’s nearly 2019. People with such an ignorant mindset don’t belong in our future. Absolute embarrassment.

I honestly don’t think there’s anyone in professional football who is mentally tougher than Raheem Sterling. On the end of vile racist abuse from newspapers and fans every week and he somehow, at least publicly, rises above it. But it’s our duty to call it out and stop it.

[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Raheem Sterling deserves the highest praise for not responding to vile abuse today. Even if the alleged racist element goes unproven - how do grown men think that is in any way acceptable? ‘Passion’? ‘Banter’? It is pathetic. Quite simply pathetic.
