The former Liverpool defender also compared Alexis Sanchez's move to Manchester United with that of El Nino.
In his recent Telegraph column, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher discussed how the Merseysiders reacted on Chelsea's £50m bid for Fernando Torres in 2011. According to Carragher, the dressing room was very much surprised to see that much money being offered to the Spaniard, who was suffering from injuries and a massive dip in his form.
"When Chelsea bid £50 million for Torres in January 2011 there was consternation among Liverpool supporters, Although we could never state it publicly at the time, there was general astonishment in our dressing room.
We thought Chelsea had not been watching him for the previous 12 months. We knew Chelsea did not sign the player they thought." wrote Carragher.
All the doubts regarding Torres' form turned true as the striker failed to replicate his stellar performances in Liverpool's colour for the Stamford Bridge side. Torres spent four years at Chelsea, netting only 20 goals from 110 matches he played.

Former English international also compared Alexis Sanchez's current situation to that of Torres' in 2011.
"He is to Manchester United what Fernando Torres was to Chelsea. Their appetite for goals and their match-winning potential means when they burst onto the scene they not only want to play every match for club and country, but under-pressure managers cannot resist using them as much as possible.
There is a clamour for them to play from fans and media, so they do not rest enough. After too many games they suffer an increasing number of injuries, burning themselves out earlier than defenders and midfielders." added Jamie.

Liverpool will play Huddersfield Town while Manchester United will lock horns against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge later on Saturday evening.
