Los Blancos captain took to Twitter to answer the most dreaded questions in the current situation.

It has been a dreadful past couple of weeks for everyone at Real Madrid CF. Within the space of one week, they had to bid goodbye to all three competitions- the UEFA Champions League, La Liga and the Copa del Rey following horrendous defeats to FC Barcelona and AFC Ajax.

Disappointments on the field aside, a lot of off-the-field incidents have also surfaced in the local press thus rendering it from a sporting and management failure to a full-blown crisis. Sergio Ramos has well been at the centre of many news that involves the recent Madrid turmoil. Concerning reports involving an alleged clash between Marcelo and the Real Madrid skipper was leaked to the press yesterday.

Following all of this, Sergio Ramos took to Twitter today to shed some light over the recent issues that have plagued Real Madrid. While it is a little surprising to see a professional explaining his thoughts online this manner, instead of an interview, it also goes to show the urgency of the current situation.

Sergio Ramos assumed responsibility for his part. “As footballers, we like to do our talking on the pitch but this season it is not turning out this way. Recent events have been disastrous and I’m not hiding. We are not hiding. We the players are primarily responsible and I, as captain, more than anyone.”

Sergio Ramos deliberately took a yellow card in Amsterdam in the first leg that Real Madrid were winning 1-2 with the hopes that he would return for the quarter finals. That event obviously backfired, with Madrid missing Ramos critically in the 1-4 defeat at the hands of Ajax in the return leg at the Bernabeu.

“Was the yellow card in Amsterdam an error?”

“Absolutely it was an error and I take the blame 200%.”

Sergio Ramos was also with a camera crew who were apparently filming a documentary during the return leg at the Bernabeu, which goes without saying, obviously did not go according to plan. “There are certain commitments made and it never remotely went through my head that the game could have turned out as it did. The recording itself was scaled down as the game went on.”

Regarding issues inside the dressing room, Ramos said that whatever happened inside the dressing room best stay inside it and that, at the centre of everyone’s interests lay only Real Madrid and nothing else.

Regarding the confrontation with Marcelo, Ramos said, “We have exchanges in every training session. It’s part of working with the pressure. But it’s just an anecdote like so many others that happen from day to day. Marcelo is like a brother to me.”
