The Euro 2016 winner has vehemently denied the charges.

Cristiano Ronaldo's career has taken a rather odd turn recently. Other than his exploits for Juventus, the Portuguese has been caught up in a mire of problems due to a rape allegation. Now recently, his club president Andrea Agnelli has stated that he will support his star man in the midst of his recent crisis.

It all started when an American woman Kathryn Mayorga accused the UEFA Euro 2016 winner of sexually assaulting her in a hotel in Las Vegas in 2009. On the other hand, Ronaldo has denied the accusations.

It was first revealed by Germany's Der Spiegel. The publication mentioned that the former Real Madrid player had paid Mayorga money in 2010, as part of an agreement which prevented her from going public.

Mayorga has already filed a lawsuit to make that agreement meaningless, and Las Vegas police have already started investigating on it. Ronaldo's lawyer Peter Christiansen has confirmed such a payment was made, but revealed that some documents have been stolen and fabricated.

In a recent news conference, Agnelli stated, "When there are problems I tend to look people in the eyes, ask them the questions directly and they judge them myself. I'm very calm, having spoken to him directly as soon as the case emerged, on his position. And his behaviour in the days and weeks that followed only confirm my initial feeling. It's a personal case, but I spoke to him with [vice chairman] Pavel [Nedved] and [sporting director] Fabio [Paratici] and I told Cristiano that my door and the door of Juventus will always be open whenever he would need something. We are here to support him and the same goes for every woman and man at Juventus, when they need it and when we are convinced that they behaved correctly."

Ronaldo also recently told reporters, "I am a happy man. We did the statement two weeks ago, if I'm not wrong. I am glad, of course, I'm not going to lie in this situation, I'm very happy. My lawyers, they are confident and of course, I am, too.  The most important thing is I enjoy football, I enjoy my life. The rest, I have people who take care of my life. Of course, the truth is always coming in the first position. So, I'm good."
