Super Cup Indian Player Ratings: Lenny Rodrigues and Brandon Fernandes star in Goa's win over Chennai City
The Gaurs put in an inspired display against the current I-League champions.
Sergio Lobera's men brushed aside Chennai City FC to reach the finals of the Super Cup with a comprehensive 0-3 win.
A brace from Ferran Corominas and an exquisite goal from Brandon Fernandes was enough for the Gaurs to take the game away from the I-League champions. FC Goa are the first team to reach the finals of the second edition of the Super Cup and will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Chennaiyin FC and ATK.
Here are the Indian player ratings from the game:
Chennai City FC
Edwin Vanspaul - 5.0
Edwin Vanspaul had an off day at the office, as the right-back was bamboozled by Brandon's pace and trickery. Vanspaul is a very capable defender with attacking instincts, as he was primarily a winger, but he could not keep up with FC Goa's attacking display throughout the game.
Gaurav Bora - 5.0
It was a tough outing for Chennai City, especially against FC Goa who are known for their attacking prowess. He was reckless with his tackles and also earned a needless yellow card. He should take these experiences as a learning curve and keep improving under Akbar Nawas.
Tarif Akhand - 5.0
Not the best of the matches for the whole side but it will definitely be a learning curve for the young defender. Tarif was out of position a lot of times and was under pressure for most of the game. However, he did put his body on the line to block a few shots, proving that this is just the beginning for the young centre back.
Ajithkumar Kamaraj - 5.5
It was heartbreak for Ajithkumar as, despite his consistent performances throughout the season, this was not among his best. He could not keep Jackichand under control with Boumous also drifting wide at times, the young left-back was kept busy in defence and nullified his attacking threat.
Charles Anandraj - 5.0
Another sloppy performance from the midfielder as he gave away a needless penalty. He was trusted over Michael Regin and had a chance to redeem himself after getting sent off against FC Pune City but unfortunately, he could not replicate his heroics from the I-League.
Sriram B - 5.0
Sriram was not at his best and was dominated in the middle of the park by Boumous and Lenny in particular. Although the midfielder tried to put in those hard yards in front of the pitch, he was forced to play deep as his side were under the pump from Lobera's men.
Romario Jesuraj - 5.0
An off day for the young winger, as he was under the pump by Saviour Gama. Romario gave away the ball on several occasions trying to outwit him. However, he came closest to scoring for Akbar Nawas' men when he struck the bar from distance.
Substitutions
Ameerudeen - 5.0
Replaced struggling Sriram near the hour mark as Nawas wanted a more direct attacking approach with Ameerudeen. However, the versatile midfielder did not have much impact in Chennai's attacking play as he gave away the ball on numerous occasions and couldn't get past Lenny in the middle of the park.
R. Ranjeet - NA
Replaced Romario late in the game and did not make any meaningful impact.

FC Goa
Mohammad Nawaz - 6.0
Did not have much to do throughout the game. But he was more aware than the previous game and was spot on with his distribution throughout the game.
Seriton Fernandes - 6.5
Seriton has shown improvement on his defensive attributes and it was very evident from today's match. He was up against Nestor Gordillo and did a decent job to limit his options going down the flank. He was cautious defensively and did not allow space for Nestor to get in behind and create chances.
Saviour Gama - 7.0
Definitely a star in the making for the Gaurs, Gama looks like a pretty talented young left-back. He goes around with a very matured demeanour and does not shy away from making crunching tackles. He also bagged the man of the match award for his sturdy defending.
Lenny Rodrigues - 7.5
Definitely one of the most consistent players in the FC Goa side and today was no different for Lenny. His tireless work ethic has always been lauded by Sergio Lobera and today in Edu Bedia's absence he became a more important figure in the middle of the park. Helped out his defence whenever required and initiated attacking build-ups and kept his Chennai City counterparts at bay.
Jackichand Singh - 6.5
It was another great day at the office for Jackichand Singh and his technical abilities under Lobera's tutelage seen a lot of improvement. There is also a sense of freedom from the coach which allows the Manipuri winger to play with a different swagger this season. He could have scored on numerous occasions and finishing should be his only attribute which needs improvement.
Brandon Fernandes - 7.5
It is unbelievable at times that how a player of Brandon's calibre is not playing regularly in the Indian national team. He was sensational once again and kept Edwin on his toes throughout the game. Teamed up really well with Boumous and created a lot of problems for the Chennai defence. He also bagged a great counter-attacking goal as he bamboozled the whole Chennai City defence in the process.
Substitutions
Manvir Singh - 6.0
Came in for Jackichand and did put in a great shift on the right flank. He created several chances late in the second half and even freed Corominas on one occasion with the Spaniard missing out on a hattrick by a whisker.
Princeton Rebello - NA
Came in for Brandon on the 85th minute and did not make any noteworthy impact.

Liston was Lobera's last throw of the dice as the young forward replaced Corominas and only had a controversial penalty call which was denied by the referee.
