Paulinho began his youth career with Vasco Da Gama SC before being promoted to their senior team this year. He justified his promotion with his excellent performances and also scored two goals in eight matches for them. In March 2017, along with Vinícius Júnior, Lincoln and Alan, Paulinho helped Brazil win the South American Under-17 Championship, scoring two goals, including the opening goal in the final-round match, in Brazil's 0–5 win against Chile.

According to sources, he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid or Inter Milan. All eyes will be upon him this World Cup.
