The central midfielder has been a target for the Red Devils for quite sometime.

It has emerged that in order to cut costs after a dismal domestic campaign, Olympique de Marseille are making some departures from their roster. As a result, to lighten the wage bill, Kevin Strootman has been offered on loan to Manchester United, Everton and West Ham United as reported by Sky Sports.

The 29-year-old was a target back in the days of Louis Van Gaal era but had rejected a move to the Premier League. The Dutch international only recently moved to the Ligue 1 side last season after securing a move from AS Roma that included a fee in the region of £23 million.

Manchester United are in for a squad overhaul and are looking at central-midfielders who can replace their outgoing Spaniard, Ander Herrera. Players like Adrien Rabiot and Thomas Partey are among probables to fill that gap.

A loan deal for Kevin Strootman might not be a bad idea in the worst case scenario for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, it must be noted that the transfer policy at MUFC is centered around acquiring young British talent in this window, the signing of the 20-year-old Welshman, Daniel James stands as indication.

While Manchester United have not shown any inclination towards signing the former AS Roma midfielder, the talk around the club is that they are being clubbed in by Marseille in order to gain leverage in the transfer negotiations for Strootman.

Everton are also looking at bolstering their options in the heart of their midfield. With the reports of Andre Gomes close to joining Tottenham Hotspur for a fee around £30 million and Idrissa Gueye being courted by several top clubs, the gaffer, Marco Silva, might turn towards Kevin Strootman as a replacement in a case where either of his midfield stalwarts leave the club.

West Ham United are the third side that have been offered the opportunity of landing Strootman on a loan deal. A move to the East London side seems the least likely but very much possible. Manuel Pellegrini wants to build up on the fruitful second-half of the season and Kevin Strootman would step right in the starting lineup for the Hammers.
