Luke Shaw's own goal was the difference maker in the first leg.

In what will be an electric atmosphere, 2009 and 2011 Champions League finalists Manchester United will be up against FC Barcelona for the second leg of their quarter-final clash. The Catalans have away goals at their side, having beaten United at Old Trafford, 0-1.

United legend Rio Ferdinand, played against Barcelona in 2009 and 2011, believes that there is a way that United may get past the Spanish hurdle.

"I think he(Solskjaer) has to make sure they're tight at the back," he told BT Sport.

"The first 15 minutes they wouldn't want a repeat of that they looked nervy, they looked on edge a little bit in the first 15 minutes and that’s when Barca were turning the screw."

"If they can come out and be on the front foot and change the pace of the game, I think Barca are used to playing at their own pace, if they can change the pace of the game and put them under a bit of pressure then we’re going to get a couple of chances hopefully and we'll put them away."

Rio won the Champions League in 2008 when United and Barcelona faced each other in the semi-finals.

He continued, "They had some positives but they’ve got to score when they go there, didn’t get one shot on target at Old Trafford so that's something they'll want to work on."

Ferdinand believes the game will depend on how Lionel Messi wil perform, he said: "My heart says yes they can but I think it’s more about what Messi turns up, he’s that great and done so much at a top level for a consistent period of time. It could be 1-0 Man United and then we go penalties."
