The Portuguese skipper scored 15 goals in 13 games during his last UCL campaign with the Los Blancos.

Post the UEFA Awards ceremony on Friday evening, Cristiano Ronaldo's sister Katia Aviero hurriedly removed an Instagram post which seemed to be mocking Luka Modric for winning the Player of the Season award.

The Real Madrid midfield stalwart was given the prize by the governing body during the Champions League draw on 30th August 2018. The Bernabeu outfit have been placed in Group G, alongside Roma, CSKA Moscow, and Viktoria Plzen. Meanwhile, Ronaldo's Juventus will face his former team Manchester United, Valencia, and Young Boys.

Although, the Portuguese skipper scored 15 goals in 13 games during his previous campaign with the Los Blancos, Modric still claimed the prestigious award due to his talismanic presence in the middle of the park. The former Sporting CP player won the trophy in 2016, and 2017.

Yesterday's result stunned the Serie A forward's sister, who expressed her surprise via her social media handle. She captioned an Instagram story as, "Okay!!! Everyone can draw their own conclusion." The former Old Trafford star didn't come for the awards gala, but did win the Forward of the Year prize.

She compared the statistics of both the players via a deleted Instagram story

His former teammate Sergio Ramos also admitted that he and his Madrid teammates were surprised that the former Nacional youth player did not turn up. The Spanish skipper said, "We found out practically when the microphones were being set up and we were surprised. But he does what he wants."

Also the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's agent Jorge Mendes was angry with UEFA's decision. He said, "Football is played on the field and that’s where Cristiano won. He scored 15 goals, carried Real Madrid on his back and conquered the Champions League again. It’s ridiculous, shameful. The winner is not in doubt, as Ronaldo is the best in his position."
