India at Hangzhou Asian Games 2023: Volleyball schedule, squad, live streaming details

The blue colts last won a medal was in the 1986 edition.

The Volleyball event at the Hangzhou Asian Games will begin four days prior to opening ceremony on 23rd September 2023. Indian men’s volleyball team will open the proceedings this edition and have participated in all the Asian Games since the 1958 edition in Tokyo, Japan. Meanwhile, the women’s events have been part since the 1962 edition in Jakarta, Indonesia.

India has won a total of three medals at the Asian Games (one silver and two bronze medals) at the Asian Games. The first medal came in the 1958 edition when India finished 3rd. In the following edition, India upgraded the colour to silver losing to Japan in a close encounter (2-3). After a span of two decades, India bounced back to win its third medal in the 1986 edition.

The women’s team best place finish was in the 1982 edition when they finished 6th. In the last edition, the Indian men’s team finished 12th while the women’s team finished 10th.
