Asian Games: Bangladesh announce 22-member squad
The Bengal Tigers are one of India’s opponents in the group stages of the Asian Games.
The Bangladesh Football Federation has announced the squad that will represent the country at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China. The football tournament at the prestigious Asian Games is set to start from 19 September 2023 while the multi-sport meet has an official starting date of 23 September.
Bangladesh’s men’s football team is in Group A alongside China, India and Myanmar. The football tournament at the 2022 Asian Games comprises U-23 national teams with at most three senior players allowed over the prescribed age limit. The Bengal Tigers will hope that players like Rahmat Mia, Foysal Ahmed Fahim and Suman Reza can perform well. These figures will be central to the eventual success or failure of the national team in the Asian Games.
Bangladesh football team is certainly the underdog in Group A with China and India being touted as favourites to qualify. The top two teams will earn direct qualification into the knockout stages while the best third-placed team may also advance into the next stage.
Bangladesh play their opening game of the tournament against Myanmar on 19 September 2023. Rahmat Mia will be captaining the side which has several promising young players raring to prove their worth on the international stage. Head coach Javier Cabrera will be hoping to deliver success and reasons to rejoice for the fans back home.
