In thrilling athletics display at the Asian Games 2023 held in Hangzhou, India's Harmilan Bains continued to shine brightly, adding another feather to her cap by securing a well-deserved silver medal in the women's 800m race. The 25-year-old athlete from Punjab showcased exceptional grit and determination as she clocked an impressive time of 2:03.75, marking her second podium finish in this prestigious competition.

Harmilan Bains had previously captured the attention of the sporting world by earning a silver medal in the women's 1500m race earlier in the event. Her consistency and outstanding performance across multiple events underscored her brilliance as a top-notch middle-distance runner.

The gold medal in the women's 800m race was claimed by Sri Lanka's Tharushi Dissanayaka, who displayed remarkable speed and endurance to finish the race in 2:03.20. Meanwhile, China's Chunyu Wang secured the bronze with a commendable time of 2:03.90.

In the same fiercely competitive 800m race, another Indian athlete, Chanda, gave her all on the track, crossing the finish line in seventh place with a time of 2:05.69.

Shifting the focus to the men's events, Avinash Sable showcased his remarkable distance-running skills by securing a silver medal in the highly competitive men's 5000m event. He notched up his race in 13:21.09. Sable's exceptional performance placed him just behind Bahrain's Birhanu Yemataw, who set a new Games Record with a staggering time of 13:17.40.

It's worth noting that Avinash Sable had previously made waves in Hangzhou by clinching the gold medal in the men's 3000m steeplechase. In a remarkable display of his steeplechase display, Sable not only secured the top spot on the podium but also set a new Games record with a time of 8:19:50s.
