Indian women's hockey team aims to secure semi-final spot by defeating Hong Kong in Asian Games 2023

India are unbeaten so far in the competition and leading the Pool A tally.

In their last Pool A encounter at the Asian Games 2023 Hangzhou, the Indian Women's Hockey Team is all set to take on Hong Kong China on Tuesday. After a stellar start to the tournament, India is looking to maintain their momentum, while Hong Kong China are seeking their first victory. 

India's journey in this tournament has been nothing short of impressive. They began their campaign with a resounding 13-0 triumph over Singapore, followed by a convincing 6-0 victory against Malaysia. In their third match, they played out a thrilling 1-1 draw against Korea, showcasing their resilience and skill. 

On the other hand, Hong Kong China have had a challenging start, suffering defeats in all three of their previous games. 

When it comes to head-to-head encounters, India holds a dominant position, having played Hong Kong China only once in the past, during the 2013 Women's Asia Cup, where India emerged victorious with a 13-0 scoreline. 

As India prepares to face Hong Kong China, they are undoubtedly the favorites, backed by their exceptional form and history. However, in sports, surprises are always possible, and Hong Kong China will be eager to give it their all and seek an upset victory.

Indian Women’s Hockey Team Vice Captain Deep Grace Ekka added, "While our previous victories have been encouraging, we know that every match poses unique challenges. Our draw against Korea reminded us that we must continually push ourselves to improve. As a team, we are united and motivated, and we're looking forward to the upcoming match. Our aim is to stay consistent and deliver another strong performance." 

Notably, India are currently on top of the Pool A points table and victory against Hong Kong China will confirm their berth in the Semi-Finals of the competition.
