Day 3 of Asian Para Games 2023 proved to be the most successful for India with a record total of 30 medals won of which athletics stood apart and contributed close to three-fourth of the medals. Apart from athletics, archery and powerlifting added few more to increase India's medal tally to 64.

The day started on a grand note as Sumit Antil broke his own world record in men's F64 javelin to successfully defend his Asian Para Games gold. Sumit, who had set the previous WR at the World Para Athletics Championship earlier this year, registered a throw of 73.29m to clinch gold - his second medal at the Asian Para Games.

His compatriot Pushpendra Singh bagged the bronze medal with a respectable throw of 62.06m. Another Indian in the fray, Saurabh Chaudhary couldn't finish on the podium and ended his campaign on the fourth spot.

Later in the day, Sundar Singh, Rinku and Ajeet Singh clean swept the podium in men's F-46 javelin throw. Like Sumit Antil, Sundar Singh recorded a new world record. He was closely followed by Rinku who fell a metre outside the gold medals finish. Meanwhile, experienced athlete Ajeet Singh finished his campaign by taking the third spot.

Apart from Sumit Antil and Sundar Singh, another Indian javelin thrower, Haney, too won gold medal. The 17-year-old youngster clinched gold by breaching the Games record with a throw of 55.97m. He is touted to be next big star in the making going ahead.

Apart from the field events, track events too contributed its part in the medals tally. Ankur Dhama clinched gold in men's T11 1500m and with this became the first Indian athlete to win two gold medals in a single edition of quadrennial extravaganza. Apart from him, Sharath Shankarappa also won his second medal at the ongoing meet but could only win silver in men's T13 1500m.

Archery contributed three medals on day 3 of the Asian Para Games - 2 silver and 1 bronze. The Experienced duo of Harvinder Singh and Sahil claimed bronze medal after winning the bronze medal playoff match against Thailand in men's recurve archery team event. Later in the day, Sheetal Devi and Sarita combined to win silver in women's compound archery.

In the last archery match of the day, the Indian duo of Rakesh Kumar and Suraj Singh won silver after losing to China (150-155) in men's compound archery team.
