Basketball at the 2026 Asian Games began on September 10, a full nine days before the official opening ceremony, making it the very first event of the entire Games.

The competition will be played across three disciplines: men’s 5×5, women’s 5×5, and 3×3 basketball, involving 16 nations in the 5×5 events and a wider pool of countries in the 3×3 draw.

All 5×5 matches will be played at the Aichi International Arena in Kita-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, while the 3×3 competition will be held at the Kinjo Futo Station Square Venue. Below is the complete schedule, along with results from the matches already played.

When and where is basketball scheduled to take place at Asian Games 2026?

Basketball will be played at the Aichi International Arena in Kita-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

The men’s tournament runs from September 10 to September 20. Group phase matches are scheduled from September 10 to September 14, followed by the quarterfinals on September 16, the semifinals on September 18, and the bronze medal match and gold medal match on September 20.

The women’s tournament runs from September 17 to September 26, with group phase and first round matches spread between September 17 and September 22, quarterfinals on September 24, semifinals on September 25, and the bronze medal match and gold medal match on September 26.
