Final medal tally of Asian Games 2026: China tops, India finishes fourth in table
China topped the medal tally with 341 medals at the Asian Games 2026.
The final day of competition at the Asian Games 2026 featured equestrian jumping, and Gulf riders dominated both individual finals at Equestrian Park. In Competition A (heights of 1.40-1.50m), Qatar’s Faleh Alajami won gold on Qapella after a clear second round.
UAE’s Abdulla Almheiri took silver on Hudson de Vains, and Saudi Arabia’s Khaled Abdulrahman S Almobty claimed bronze on Diana du Plevau Z. All three finished the second round with zero penalties, so the jump-off decided the medals.
Behind them, Humaid Almheiri of the UAE was fourth, Chen Hung-Shen of Chinese Taipei fifth, and Malaysia’s Shoorendran Nageswaran finished sixth.
Saudi Arabia then took the top two places in Competition B (heights of up to 1.55m). Ramzy Hamad A Alduhami won gold on Untouchable 32, and his compatriot Abdulrahman Bader M Alrajhi took silver on Lorenzo ES. Qatar’s Basem Mohammed completed the podium with bronze on Chaccball, after another clear round.
Japan’s Eiken Sato finished fourth on Chadellano and Kuwait’s Ali Alkharafi fifth on Inshallah, each with a penalty point.
With the last medals handed out, the sporting action for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Games is officially done. The Games will now move to the closing ceremony later on Sunday. The ceremony will formally close the 20th Asian Games in Japan, with China topping the medal table and India finishing fourth with 85 medals.

India’s campaign ended with 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, enough to secure fourth place in the final standings. The contingent fell well short of the 107 medals and 28 golds they won at the Hangzhou Games three years ago, but finished the Games strongly.
Midway through the Games, India had slipped to 12th after winning seven medals without a gold on Day 9. However, a strong finish, including five gold medals on October 3 across wrestling, golf, cricket, archery and men’s hockey, lifted India into the top four.
In the last few days of the Games, sports like archery, wrestling and boxing played a pivotal role in boosting India’s medal tally.
At the top, China was never really challenged. They finished with 169 gold, 89 silver and 83 bronze, and led from the opening days. Hosts Japan took second place with 83 gold and 269 total medals. They won the most silver medals of any nation, with 95. South Korea completed the top three with 39 golds and 150 medals.
Uzbekistan also won 21 gold medals but finished fifth behind India due to the latter’s superior silver-medal tally. Iran and Thailand finished sixth and seventh, respectively, with both nations winning 52 medals.
Kazakhstan finished eighth with 12 golds, but their total collection of 84 medals is just one less than India’s. Hong Kong and Bahrain settled for ninth and tenth, with 11 golds each.
