India’s full archery contingent for Asian Games 2026
Dhiraj Bommadevara & Ankita Bhakat will headline the Indian archery contingent.
India are sending a 12-member archery contingent to the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, which will take place between September 19 and October 4.
The archers were selected by the Archery Association of India (AAI) following the second-phase and final selection trials at the SAI NCOE in Sonipat, Haryana, in May 2026. Three men and three women were each selected in the recurve and compound categories.
The men’s recurve team will be led by Paris 2024 Olympian Dhiraj Bommadevara. He is joined by Neeraj Chauhan and Yashdeep Bhoge. Ankita Bhakat, who won bronze at the Hangzhou 2023 Games, leads the women’s recurve team, along with Kirti Sharma and 17-year-old Kumkum Mohod.
2026 Archery World Cup bronze medallist Sahil Jadhav is a part of the men’s compound team, along with Kushal Dalal and T.G. Mani Ratnam. Jyothi Surekha, a three-time Asian Games gold medallist, leads the women’s compound team. She is joined by two-time Archery World Cup silver medallists Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep.
Understandably, some big names failed to make the cut. Olympian Deepika Kumari, who was part of India’s Shanghai gold-winning team, missed the squad along with her husband, Hangzhou 2023 silver medallist Atanu Das.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games also serve as a qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The LA28 programme will also feature compound archery in the mixed team event for the first time.
