India have sent six golfers to the Aichi-Nagoya Games

The Asian Games 2026 will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, with India being one of the 46 teams taking part in the continental tournament. The Indian athletes will look to replicate their performance from the Hangzhou 2022 Games, where they won 106 medals.

Anirban Lahiri, an Arjuna Awardee, was among the favourites to challenge for a podium finish but finished 32nd in the individual event. The Indian men’s team finished in seventh place.

The women’s team fared much better, barely missing out on a podium finish, finishing fourth. Meanwhile, Aditi Ashok made history, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games golf medal, clinching silver in the women’s individual event.

In total, India have won seven golf medals in the continental tournament, including three golds and four silvers. The country will look to add to this tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Ashok and Pranavi Urs retained their spots in the women’s team, and they are joined by two-time Deaflympics gold medallist Diksha Dagar.
