India at Asian Games 2026: Judo schedule, squad, & live streaming details
India have sent three-member contingent
The Asian Games 2026 will be hosted in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, and India are one of the 46 nations taking part in the continental tournament. The country had a record-breaking outing in the previous edition in Hangzhou, as they totalled 106 medals.
Judo, however, has never been a strong medal event for India at the Games; the country has just 5 bronze medals in the sport’s history, all coming from the 1986 Seoul and 1994 Hiroshima editions, with no gold or silver ever won.
Ahead of Aichi-Nagoya, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) facilitated an overseas training stint for the senior judo team at Tsukuba University in Japan, running through October 2, aimed at preparing athletes for both the Asian Games and the World Judo Championships in Baku (October 4–11). The camp lets the squad acclimatise in the host country in the final weeks before the competition.
Three judokas from the Tsukuba camp are part of India’s Asian Games team, Asmita Dey (Women’s −48kg), a Commonwealth Games 2026 gold medallist, along with Yamini Mourya (Women’s −57kg) and Takhellambam Inunganbi (Women’s −70kg).
