Boxing at Asian Games 2026: India’s full list of medal winners, medal tally, results
Indian boxers have had a slow start to the Aichi-Nagoya Games campaign
The Asian Games 2026 are taking place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The Indian contingent has been in fine form at the continental tournament, and their medal charge has relied heavily on the 11-member boxing team.
The Indian pugilists, consisting of six men and five women, are scheduled to take part in 11 medal events. However, despite a record-breaking performance at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, the Indian boxing contingent had a slow start to their Asiad campaign.
Three male boxers – Jadumani Singh, Sachin Siwach, and Sumit Kundu – were unable to progress beyond the quarter-final stage. Preeti Pawar, who won bronze at the Hangzhou 2022 Games, was eliminated in the Round of 16, along with Sakshi Chaudhary.
However, there have been some encouraging performances as well. Narender Berwal won his second consecutive Asian Games bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight event. He was beaten by Kazakhstan’s Aibek Oralbay in the semi-final.
Encouragingly, Ankush Panghal and Parveen Hooda have reached the finals of the men’s 80kg and women’s 65kg events, respectively, confirming at least two silver medals for India. Ankush will face South Korea’s Kim Minseong, while Parveen will take on Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-chin.
