India & Pakistan UNITE! Raise concerns over pitch & accommodation for Asian Games 2026 - Reports

India’s teams are expected to arrive in Nagoya around September 14 or 15.
The Asian Games 2026 cricket event is drawing closer, with some of Asia’s biggest names in contention; Japan will have to raise the stakes to accommodate them with every facility possible. India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Pakistan are among the major Asian teams comprising several players carrying high status. These teams and the players will add international quality to the event and are likely to bring the Asian Games cricket into the spotlight.
However, preparations have raised some serious questions among several cricket boards. The tournament will be played in September, and concerns have emerged regarding the conditions of play and also the facilities that will be used to accommodate the cricketers, as per reports in Indian Express.
This issue has hence prompted the Asian Cricket Council to intervene and send representatives from all participating boards to assure their particular boards of the quality expected during the Asian Games. The concerns are not about the tournament’s format but about the readiness of the facilities to host such renowned names in the world of cricket.

The reports in Indian Express claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board was reportedly the first to flag a concern during the ACC meeting held a few weeks ago. The discussions involved representatives from every participating board in the upcoming Asian Games. Following those discussions, the ACC decided to send its men over to inspect the playing as well as living conditions in the Japanese city.
The concerns have been raised, as the ground is a remodelled baseball facility that was converted to a cricket ground earlier this year in March. Moreover, the ground also comprises a hybrid cricket surface. Despite having hosted the East Asia-Pacific qualifiers of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the facility has not been a frequent home for competitive cricket.
Alongside the ground, the facilities are also questionable. The dressing rooms are more like locker rooms, and it will be challenging to fit in cricket kits at those venues. The players will be accommodated in cruise ship facilities, game villas and hotels. According to some reports, rooms in hotels around Nagoya province are too small to accommodate players’ large kit bags.
The Indian team will have international players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Jasprit Bumrah alongside their skipper, Shreyas Iyer. Despite such tough conditions, it will be a massive feat for these players to represent India on such a big platform.
