India and Pakistan will meet in the final of Asian Games 2026.
The Asian Games 2026 cricket tournament is now heading towards its final stage. The men’s cricket event in Japan has reached an exciting point, with the bronze and gold-medal match remaining.
India and Pakistan have both made it to the final. The two teams will meet for the gold medal on October 3 (Saturday) at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
India came into the tournament as the defending champions. The Men in Blue booked their place in the final after their win over Sri Lanka in semi-final 2 of the tournament. Pakistan had already reached the final after beating Bangladesh in the first semi-final. India then joined them after a big win over Sri Lanka.
With the India-Pakistan final now confirmed, there is also a lot of focus on what will happen between the two teams before and during the match, especially around the handshake issue.

As of the latest PTI report, there is no confirmed change in the BCCI policy followed so far regarding handshakes with Pakistan. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is reaching Nagoya on October 1 (Thursday) and will watch the final on Saturday.
There could also be a discussion between the top officials of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the people running Indian cricket. Any further decision could become clear after discussions between the officials.
India booked their place in the Asian Game 2026 final after beating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the second semi-final. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first. India lost Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson early and were 24/2.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi then scored 38 runs from 21 balls. His quick innings helped India recover. Ishan Kishan was the star with the bat. He scored an unbeaten 80 from 46 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes.
India finished on 169/7 from 20 overs and gave Sri Lanka a target of 170. The Sri Lankan batting line-up then struggled badly. India bowled them out for only 45 runs in 9.5 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma took two wickets each. Washington Sundar also picked up one wicket.
However, the gold-medal match will decide the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket champion. At the same time, the handshake issue will remain an important talking point before the two teams meet on Saturday.
