Hangzhou 2023 bronze medallist Vishnu Saravanan leads the sailing team
India is sending a 10-member sailing contingent to the upcoming Asian Games 2026, happening in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The squad was finalised by the Yachting Association of India (YAI) in February after the selection trials.
The biggest name in the squad is Vishnu Saravanan, who claimed bronze in the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games. The two-time Olympian will compete in the men’s ILCA 7 event. Nethra Kumanan, who represented India in the Paris 2024 Olympics, will compete in the women’s ILCA 6 event.
Another major medal contender is Jakarta-Palembang 2018 Asian Games bronze medallist Harshita Tomar, who will compete in the women’s 49er FX team event with Shital Verma. India’s only iQFOiL sailor, Katya Coelho, will also compete in the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
