India’s full shooting contingent for Asian Games 2026
Manu Bhaker will be India’s star shooter at the Aichi-Nagoya Games
India have sent a strong 30-member shooting contingent to the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, which will take place from September 19 to October 4. The shooting contingent will be headlined by two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, who is aiming for a second consecutive Asian Games gold.
The Indian contingent contains 15 men and 15 women shooters, utilising the maximum limit of 30 shooters set by the Asian Games Organising Committee. The team has 12 shotgun shooters and 18 rifle and pistol shooters. Four Indian shooters will compete in multiple events in the 20th Asian Games.
The shooters were selected by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) according to the government’s qualification criteria. The shotgun team was announced in May, and the rifle and pistol squads were announced in June.
Manu Bhaker, who won gold at the Hangzhou 2023 Games, will be the star of the show. She will be joined by fellow Olympians Rudrankksh Patil and Esha Singh. Aishwary Pratap Tomar, who also clinched bronze in Hangzhou, is a part of the men’s team.
Other members include ISSF World Cup gold medallist Suruchi Singh, two-time ISSF World Championships gold medallist Ahvar Rizvi, and Paris 2024 participants Kynan Chenai, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, and Anantjeet Singh Naruka.
Some big names have missed out, however. Gaurav Mansoori was withdrawn from the 10m air pistol event and replaced by Aakash Bharadwaj after failing a dope test. Hangzhou gold medallist Sift Kaur Samra, as well as Paris 2024 medallists Sarabjot Singh and Swapnil Kusale, are also not part of the squad.
