Asian Games 2026: India's full table tennis contingent
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Sreeja Akula will headline the table tennis squad
India are sending a 10-member table tennis contingent to the upcoming Asian Games 2026, which will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The squad was announced by the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) in June.
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, part of the historic 2018 Asian Games bronze-winning men’s team, is India’s most experienced paddler in the squad. The Tokyo 2020 Olympian will lead the men’s team.
Two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Harmeet Desai, who was also part of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2018 Jakarta Games, will also take part at Aichi-Nagoya. Another member of the 2018 team, Manav Thakkar, is also part of the squad. The other two members are Manush Shah and Payas Jain.
Sreeja Akula, the reigning national champion and a mixed doubles gold medallist at the CWG 2022, will lead the women’s team. She will be joined by Hangzhou 2023 bronze medallist Sutirtha Mukherjee, Yashaswini Ghorpade, Diya Chitale, and 17-year-old Syndrela Das.
