Asian Games 2026: India bag team silver in 50m Rifle 3 Positions; Tilottama Sen & Vidarsa Vinod enter individual final

Indian shooters won one more medal at the Asian Games 2026. Three shooters, Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey, won the silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event on Saturday.
The Indian team scored a total of 1,763 points together. China won the gold medal with 1,773 points, which was 10 points more than India. This score also matched China’s own record set at the Hangzhou Games in 2022. Kazakhstan won the bronze medal with 1,754 points, after a close fight for third place.
All three Indian shooters performed well individually as well. Tilottama Sen was India’s best shooter in this event. She finished third overall with 590 points. In the kneeling position, she scored 197. In the prone position, she scored 198.
In the standing position, she recorded rounds of 97 and 98 to secure her place in the individual final. Only two Chinese shooters posted higher scores than her in the qualification round.
Vidarsa Vinod had a slow start but came back strongly. She scored 193 in kneeling, which was not a great start. But she improved a lot in prone, scoring 199.
Her strongest phase came in the standing position, where she produced two consecutive rounds of 98. This took her total score to 588, and she finished sixth. This performance was enough to secure them a spot in the individual final, giving India a chance to win another medal.
Ashi Chouksey plays a big part in the team’s silver, but misses the individual final

Ashi Chouksey was doing really well for most of the event. She scored 196 in kneeling and 199 in prone, both very good scores. But she struggled a bit in the standing position, scoring only 93 in her opening round. She tried to recover and scored 97 in her last round, but it was not enough.
She finished 15th overall with 585 points, falling short of the top eight required to qualify for the individual final. Despite missing out individually, her score proved valuable in the team event, helping India secure the silver medal with a combined tally of 1,763 points.

As a result, Tilottama and Vidarsa will now compete in the individual final of the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. This final was set to start at 9:30 am IST on the same day. Both shooters will try to turn their good qualification scores into an individual medal for India.
This silver medal is part of a great run for Indian shooters at the Asian Games 2026. As of 26 September, India has won 25 medals in total. This includes a couple of gold medals, 11 silver medals and 12 bronze medals. Shooting has been one of India’s best sports at these Games.
