India registered a 124-run win against Sri Lanka in semi-final of Asian Games 2026.
India have advanced to the final of the Asian Games 2026 after a dominant semi-final win over Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue registered a brilliant 124-run win at the Karogi Sports Park, Nisshin on Thursday.
Asked to bat, India didn’t have a great start to their innings as Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, who batted at three, fell for just seven runs each. However, young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (38) seemed to be batting on a different surface, hitting bowlers all over the park.
Sooryavanshi along with captain Shreyas Iyer (13) added 35 runs for the third wicket. After that, it was all about Ishan Kishan (80*), who carried his golden form in the T20Is and played yet another blinder. Thanks to his half-century, India posted a total of 169 for seven.
Sri Lanka had the worst possible start to their innings as Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets in the first over. Then, the Sri Lanka wickets fell like a pack of cards as they were left reeling at 33 for seven inside seven overs. Nuwanidu Fernando, 15, was the only batter who scored in double digits. Sri Lanka got all out for just 45 as India won the clash by 124 runs.
