India Men’s Cricket Team will begin their Asian Games 2026 campaign from September 28.
The Asian Games 2026 have officially started in Japan, with Indian athletes beginning their campaign across different sports. The cricket event has also got underway, with the Indian women’s team already making an impressive start in the tournament.
India’s Women’s Cricket Team defeated Japan in the quarter-final and booked their spot in the semi-final. Shree Charani played a key role with the ball, while the Indian team gave a strong all-round performance to move closer to the medal.
The Indian Men’s Cricket Team, meanwhile, is yet to begin their Asian Games campaign. The Shreyas Iyer-led side is scheduled to travel to Japan before starting their campaign in the quarter-finals on September 28.
However, the team has faced a last-minute kit issue ahead of their departure from India. Some players are still waiting for correctly sized jerseys, with the problem involving the Indian Olympic Association’s kit supplier JSW Inspire.

According to PTI, some members of the Indian Men’s Cricket Team are still waiting for correctly sized kits before travelling to Japan. The issue has involved the BCCI and JSW Inspire. The team is scheduled to leave New Delhi on Sunday, September 20.
Ahead of the departure, there has been back-and-forth between the BCCI and JSW Inspire over the sizing of the players’ jerseys. Most of the sizing problems have reportedly been resolved, but a few players are still waiting for their replacement kits. The remaining jerseys are expected to reach the team shortly.
“There was a sizing issue in kits of cricketers; the majority of them have been rectified. There are a few left, and they will be delivered to the team shortly. With players needing two different jerseys there (one for bilateral and another for Asian Games), this can happen,” an IOA source told PTI.
India to wear two different jerseys in Japan
The Indian team will first play a one-off T20I against Japan on September 22. For that match, the players will wear their regular India kit.
The team will then switch to the official Asian Games jersey for the main tournament. India’s men’s campaign will begin with the quarter-final on September 28.
