India and Pakistan are set to meet in the men’s cricket final at the Asian Games 2026. The gold-medal match will take place on October 3 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan.
India reached the final after beating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the semi-final. Ishan Kishan played a key role with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls as India posted 169/7 before bowling Sri Lanka out for 45.
Pakistan also booked their place in the gold-medal match after defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-affected semi-final. They chased 112 in 11.3 overs after the target was revised.
With rain already affecting matches at the Asian Games, weather could become an important factor in the IND vs PAK final. This has also raised questions about what will happen if the gold-medal match cannot be completed.

There is no reserve day for the IND vs PAK final game on October 3. The match has to be decided on the scheduled day itself. If rain prevents the match from starting or stops play before a result can be achieved, the final will not be moved to another day.
Under the rules provided for the 2026 Asian Games, an abandoned final will result in India and Pakistan sharing the gold medal. No silver medal will be awarded in that situation.
If the match starts and rain stops play, a winner can still be decided using the DLS method. Both teams must play at least five overs for this.
If the team batting second cannot play five overs, the match will be a No Result, and both teams will share the gold medal. If the scores are tied, a Super Over will decide the winner.
If rain does not allow the Super Over to take place, the ICC T20 World Rankings will decide the winner. India are ranked higher than Pakistan, so India would win gold and Pakistan would get silver in this situation.
