Kamaljeet & Suruchi Singh clinch second gold for India at Asian Games 2026
Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
India have bagged their second gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after shooters Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won the 10m air pistol mixed team event on Friday at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Gallery in Nagoya, Japan.
The Indian pair finished with a combined score of 484.6 in the final, comfortably ahead of the rest of the field, and set a new Asian Record in the process. Uzbekistan’s Mukhammad Kamalov and Nigina Saidkulova held the previous mark of 481.3, set earlier this year.
Kamaljeet and Suruchi controlled the final from the very first series. They opened with 103.0 points, then moved to 202.4 and 303.5 by the end of Stage 1.
In Stage 2, the duo pushed further ahead, scoring 364.7 in the first series and 424.9 in the second, which put real distance between them and the chasing pack. Indonesia was the first team knocked out of the four-team final, and by that point India already held a lead of nearly 6 points at the top of the standings.
South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo took the silver medal with a score of 478.0, while Iran’s Vahid Golkhandan and Haniyeh Rostamiyan settled for bronze with 415.8 points.
A gold that came from a last-minute call

What makes this win stand out is how the team came together. Kamaljeet was added to the mixed team lineup at the eleventh hour, replacing Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve, who had originally been paired with Suruchi by the National Rifle Association of India.
The change followed the individual 10m pistol event a day earlier, where Kamaljeet missed the final by finishing ninth, while Kedarling placed 35th.
Despite the short turnaround, the pair clicked instantly. In the qualification round, Kamaljeet and Suruchi fired a combined 587, including 29 inner 10s. In doing so, they broke the Asian Games qualification record of 577, set by Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju at Hangzhou 2022.
That same 587 score also equalled the existing Asian Record, a mark set by Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker at the ISSF World Cup in Osijek, Croatia, in 2021.
This is India’s second gold at the ongoing Games. The first came earlier when the women’s cricket team beat Sri Lanka in the final to claim the country’s maiden gold of this edition

They broke two separate records. In qualification, their score of 587 broke the Asian Games qualification record of 577. In the final, their winning score of 484.6 broke the Asian Record of 481.3, previously held by Uzbekistan’s Mukhammad Kamalov and Nigina Saidkulova
